Dr. Manoranjan Misra received his Ph.D in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Utah in 1981 under the guidance of Professor J. Miller. As a graduate student, he was awarded the Garr Cutler Energy Award for his outstanding research work on energy from fossil fuels.
He was recently awarded the most prestigious 2010 Regents' Researcher Award by the Nevada System of Higher Education. He also previously received the Outstanding Researcher Award for the University of Nevada, Reno in 1996 and the Foundation Professor Award in 1998. Dr. Misra was awarded teh Gunnerman Silver State Award for Excellence in Science and Technology in 2003 as well as the 2009 Faculty Advisor's Award for Ongoing Commitment to Entrepreneurship and Higher Education. He has published 193 technical papers and advised forty graduate students for their M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.
